Lamb Masala Meatballs

Ingredients

for 4 servings

For the meatballs:

  • 1 lb ground lamb (455 g)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
  • ¼ cup panko breadcrumbs (30 g)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • ½ teaspoon cumin

For the Sauce:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 jar masala simmer sauce, (and water, if the brand calls for it)
  • 4 tablespoons feta cheese
  • cilantro, for garnish - optional

Preparation

  1. Mix the meatball ingredients together in a bowl. Form into 12 meatballs.
  2. Add the olive oil to the pot. To this, add the sliced onions and saute for 5 minutes.
  3. Add the meatballs and brown for another 5 minutes.
  4. Add the sauce (and water if called for). Simmer, covered, for 20-25 minutes.
  5. Serve meatballs with sauce, topped with feta and cilantro.
